DSpace with Multiple Handle Prefixes

If you are using DSpace 1.6.2 and trying to retain Handle resolving on exiting items after merging two or more DSpace instances into on repository. You need to get CNRI to update all the desired prefixes using the same sitebndl.zip package. also in dspace.cfg add a (undocumented) configuration key-value pair handle.plugin.checknameauthority = false. And update the handle config.dct as follow (w/ five different prefixes):

Looking into implementing this on DSpace 5.x soon and would love to hear some experiences.
or example, one of the two config variables related to this functionality is completely undocumented:
handle.plugin.checknameauthority
The message thread linked above recommends setting this to false, but from reading the comment in HandlePlugin.java it seems it should actually be true.
You need to set the variable to ‘false’. More info at https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-5_x/dspace-api/src/main/java/org/dspace/handle/HandlePlugin.java#L328
